THE LITTLE THINGS

WARNING:  THIS IS A PICTURE FREE POST!

It really is the little things in life that make me smile.
Like for example, my seven year old getting up early
on Valentine's Day to make me a bowl of cereal for breakfast.
Or my five year old belting out the lyrics
"Is there anybody out there that wants to have a cold beer and kick it til the morning light!"
in the car yesterday.  I know, a tad inappropriate for a five year old, but nonetheless,
it made me smile (and laugh out loud)!
Or my daughter coming home from church last night with a list of virtues she thinks I possess.
The list included, caring, loving, creativity and forgiving.  That made me beam from ear to ear.
Or opening the birthday card from my 90 year old grandmother who
has never once forgotten my birthday.

It's also the little things like finding some beautiful remnants on the clearance table at the fabric store that can bring a smile to my face or finding out my latest car repair is only going to cost $200,
not $800 like I had anticipated.

Sometimes it seems like life is moving so swiftly, I can't keep up.
But, at the end of the day, when I feel like I don't have an ounce of energy left,
reflecting back on the little things that brought me happiness during the day,
makes me excited for what tomorrow has to offer.

Thanks for all the comments and suggestions from yesterday's post regarding my plea for help.
I received some great ideas and I am mulling them all over.
Hopefully next week I can muster up the energy to make some decisions.

  2. I love your appreciation of the little things. How cute is your 5 year old singing in the car??? I've been contemplating adding a running list of things I'm grateful for to my blog posts, inspired by Becky @ Farmgirl Paints, because while I'm busy teaching my kids to be grateful, I often get muddled in the to-dos of real, every day life! Right now, while my project is not going as planned, I am grateful for a few moments to sit down and read your blog!! Thanks for the reminder to appreciate these small things :)

  3. Isn't that the truth? When I think about everything I didn't accomplish or get to, I need to keep in mind the things that made me smile because those are the important things in life. My daughter waking up in the morning and placing her little bunny that she sleeps with out of her crib with an "uh-oh" in the cutest little darn voice and every day I say "uh oh you dropped your bunny!" - that kind of stuff is the BEST! Thank you so much for this. Oh, and my coffee too - can't forget my coffee and my husband too - can't forget him. Have a good day Andrea!

  4. amen! it really is the little things! i love all the things your kids did to make you laugh or just show you they cared... it put a smile on my face, too.
yesterday when my kids got home from school the neighbor called to invited them over to play. they went over and i stayed to tidy the house. i also go through sawyer's backpack every day for papers, etc. i found a card he made for me at school and it said "dear mom, i miss you at school today." that melted my heart and made my entire week.
