BRILLIANT

I saw this in the latest issue of Country Living magazine, one of my favorite reads.
It stopped me in my tracks.  Then I went on to read that the savvy owners of the is gorgeous
North Carolina home pulled this off for only $78, using simple supplies from the hardware store.

So of course, I immediately began my door search once again.
You may recall my desire to add a sliding door here.

A lovely reader e-mailed a few weeks ago about an antique store in downtown Cincinnati,
The Wooden Nickel.  She said she had been there and had seen several doors that might work for my house.  Of course!  It's practically in my backyard and I have passed by it many times, but never ventured in.  I made a trip down there pronto.

Look what I found.....
Two solid mahogny doors priced at just $75 each!
I didn't purchase them yet and I sure hope they are still there.
Now don't go getting ideas and try to steal them from me.
They fit the dimensions of the opening between our dining room and family room perfectly.

To think that I could make this whole plan come together for around $200 is pretty amazing!
Seen any brilliant ideas lately you care to share?

Also, thanks so much for all the lovely comments about the painted ottoman.
I am working on a post about the materials I used and the process.  Stay tuned!

  4. Wow, that is a deal and I hope they are still there for you. Do you ever pick up Country Living UK edition? I always find it interesting to see what's going on there versus what our issue in the States looks like.
