GREEN WITH ENVY

I have been pondering starting a little collection.
Problem is, I wasn't sure what I wanted to collect.
Well, this beautiful photograph helped me decide.

I just can't seem to get this image out of my head.
I love everything about these rooms
(minus the white ceiling fan over the dining room table).
But I especially love the collection of green vases.

I was contemplating collecting jadite pieces.
I was even on the lookout for them at the last antique show I attended.

However, I don't actually plan on using the pieces, I just want to display them.
Jadite is fairly easy to come by, but certain pieces can be pricey.

I think I prefer a mix of shades of green/blue and a mix of variation of of styles for my collection.

I have the perfect spot to display the collection.
Right here in this antique cabinet that belonged to my husband's grandmother.
It currently houses my daughter's collection of miniature tea sets.
I think we can find another spot for those.

Are you the collecting type?
I am excited to start my search.

  1. So pretty. My mom collects white pieces, and I've always hoped to do the same some day. Those blue and green ones together are lovely and would look awesome in your cabinet. Still loving that rug of yours!

  4. I'm a big fan of jadeite. From the quick amount of research that I've done, the pricier pieces seem to be those with a lid. I picked up a bowl a month or two ago and it's a great piece. I have it displayed on the top of our one cabinet in the kitchen along w/ a few other pieces of milk glass that my Mom gave me. The problem that I have right now is that I don't have a ton of places to display so I try to use them when I can either as vases or little candy dishes.

  9. I've just started collecting blue and white pieces. I pick them up at yard sales/thrift stores for a song and can't wait to display them all together on top of our china cabinet:) I used to collect jadeite pieces and have a nice little collection of mostly Fire King dishes in my glass-fronted kitchen cabinet...still love them! Good luck on your own search--it's fun collecting, isn't it? :)

  14. I love these photos, and think this is a great idea for a collection. I have some Sophie Conran dinnerware and serveware in celadon, which is kind of a modern take on some of the more blue antique pieces the photos show. This post has me thinking that I might like to add some vintage pieces to the mix......thanks!

  16. I have a few collections of not mention worthy things, but most have gone to boxes placed in the netherworld. I never learned how to display properly, and my tastes have changed.
