DINING ROOM PROGRESS

Just to keep it real, here's what it looks like when I suddenly
get the urge to to rearrange the whole first floor of our house.
Once we got everything somewhat in place, I immediately noticed a slight problem.
You see, in order for the table to be centered under the lights (which are yet to be installed),
it needs to sit right here.
Since I can't move the rug over any further to the right, the left side is a tad too wide.
Following me?

So I did what any impatient DIYer would do, I took matters into my own hands, literally.
I started by taking off the rug binding on the entire left side of the rug.
Not an easy task, but I only ended up with only a few cuts and scraps.

Next, I got out the trusty Kitchen-Aid scissors.
Most definitely not the proper tool, but my only choice.

Next, well there is no next, because my hands were so tired
from cutting 12 feet of this thick sisal rug, I had to call it a day.

Mission "Make Rug Smaller" will commence today
and hopefully I will have an update for you tomorrow.

I didn't even google "how to cut up and re-bind a rug", so I'm winging this one.
Wish me luck!
Any last minute advice?

  2. Wow you are ambitious!!! I have recovered the binding of my seagrass rug with another fabric (over the first one) and all I can say is use something stronger than the glue gun glue! Over time the vacuum would pull it away from the rug. Maybe gorilla glue?

I absolutely LOVE that your table is in front of the fireplace - that is so cozy and beautiful!!!
