Stencil Style

A couple of weeks ago, I won a giveaway from Emily A. Clark's blog.  It was a stencil of my choice from Olive Leaf Stencils.  I was pretty excited, since it was my first time winning a giveaway.  I had also been kicking around the idea of stenciling the walls in my half bathroom, so it was the perfect prize for me.

I chose this beauty (Ikat Pattern no. 2).

I plan to keep the walls the color they are (Benjamin Moore Gull Wing Gray) and do the stencil in the same color as all the cabinetry, trim and doors in our house (Benjamin Moore Alabaster). I have never done any stenciling, but the stencil arrived last week and it came with very detailed instructions.  I had originally wanted to wallpaper this bathroom, but never go around to picking anything out.  I think this stencil will give me the same look, without the high price tag and the dreaded task of wallpapering a tiny room.

I plan to tackle the project this week, so I'll be sure to post some "after" pictures as soon as it is finished.

Head on over  to Olive Leaf Stencils and check out their site.  There are some gorgeous stencils to choose from and they will even make you a custom stencil if you send them the design you want.

Here are a couple of the other designs that I am loving.

Spring Buds Pattern

Wish me luck on my very first stenciling endeavor!  Any tips or advice would be much appreciated.

  3. Stencil in a bathroom seems like a great choice over wallpaper, yet you get a similar look! Cannot wait to see the finished project.

  4. I can't wait to see what your bathroom looks like, as I am in the throes of taking down wallpaper and debating on what to do with it. The pain of wallpaper removal has made these stencils very appealing. Although I'm a bit intimidated by them!!
