EVERYTHING BUT THE HOUSE AND ROOM DESIGN BOARD GIVEAWAY

I am excited to offer a giveaway from Everything But The House
one of my go to shopping sites for myself and for clients.

I have bought quite a few things from Everything But The House
including this, this, thesethese and these
Once you set up an account with EBTH, you can easily follow items you are interested in.
Here are a few things I am currently following.

Here are a few of my favorites that that have sold recently.

Now, for the fun part.  In addition to a $30 credit to Everything But The House
I am offering a free room design board, using an item you choose from Everything But the House.

Here is an example of a master bedroom design I recently completed.
I donated a one hour consultation and a free room design board to a silent auction for a local charity.
After meeting with the homeowners and getting a sense of their style, needs and wants,
this is what I came up with.

A WEDDING AND A WINNER

A couple of weekends ago, we traveled to my hometown of Morganfield, Kentucky.
We made the trip to attend the wedding of my beautiful cousin, Kailin.
We also managed to squeeze in my nephew's birthday party,
the local high school football game and a day at annual Corn Festival.
It was a jammed packed, fun filled, memory making kind of weekend.

My favorite part was getting to see this amazing couple begin their journey as husband and wife.
I already mentioned that Kailin is beautiful -
like, jaw dropping, stops you in your tracks kind of beautiful.
And she has the personality to match.
Here are a few of my favorite photos from her wedding day.

All photos were taken by Rachel Houser of Rachel Houser Photography

I mean, seriously, how sweet are these two.

May aunt and uncle, parents of the bride, are responsible for the fabulous decorations.
They are one talented couple.

We are blessed to have been able to be a part of their magical day.

Switching gears:
Thank you to all who entered the $100 Staples Gift Card Giveaway.
The winner is Sarah from 702 Park Project.

I know my posts have been quite sporadic.
I appreciate you hanging in there with me.
I have another fun giveaway coming up next week.

PANTRY ORGANIZATION AND A $100 GIVEAWAY FROM STAPLES

As a married couple, we have only lived in two houses.  Our first house did not have a pantry.
I was determined to fit a pantry into the redesign of our current home.
I gave you a peek inside the pantry here.

I had a grand scheme to makeover our pantry ever since we moved in.
And then I came across this image.
I quickly realized that a makeover was not needed after all -
Just some pretty baskets and a little organization.

Better Homes and Gardens

Staples contacted me a few months ago
to see if I would be interested in partnering with them on an office makeover.
Since our office was not in line for a makeover, I decided to finally tackle the pantry.

Clearly, my photos aren't quite magazine quality,
but I accomplished the look I was going for and finally got things organized in there.

I ordered these Anchor Hocking one gallon glass jars to store snacks, rice, pasta and coffee.

I also ordered ten of these plastic woven wicker baskets.
They are great for food storage.   If there is a spill, you can just rinse them out.
I also ordered several different types of Martha Stewart chalkboard labels to add to the jars.

Now for the fun part.  In addition to supplying the items used to organize my pantry,
Staples has graciously offered a $100 Staples Gift Card to one of my readers.
(limited to US residents only)

To enter the giveaway, simply leave a comment letting me know
which room in your home you would like to get organized.

The giveaway is open to all US residents until 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, September 30, 2014.

STILL THANKFUL (& FAUX SUCCULENTS)

I hope you all had a very Happy Thanksgiving.
Today, I am super thankful for my stretchy yoga pants.
I cannot believe how much food I consumed this weekend.

First things first, the winner of the Charles Emerson Designs giveaway is......

I love the lucky necklace!
Lucky you, Julia, looks like you will be getting the lucky necklace!

Another thing to add to my thankful list are these fabulous faux succulents
I picked up from a little shop in Lexington, KY a few weekends ago.

The succulents were attached to long plastic stems which I promptly cut off as soon as I got home.
Lately, I have been drawn to green and I am slowing adding more of it to every room in my home.
I love the fact that these succulents will live on forever (unlike the ones on my front porch).

Are you a faux flower fan or do you only like the real stuff?

WALLPAPER AND A WINNER

I have been a long time lover of grass cloth wallpaper.
My sister-in-law put the most gorgeous green grass cloth in the dining room of their first home.
I think that is when my grass cloth love affair began.

This first image takes my breath away.

I have wanted to incorporate grass cloth somewhere in our home since day one.
I originally thought the foyer of our home would be a great place for the grass cloth.
However, after observing my kids running their dirty little hands
on the wall each and every time they go up and down the stairs, I started to reconsider.

I also thought briefly about adding it to the boys' room.
Unfortunately, I don't think boogers, snot and slime is easy to wipe off of grass cloth.

I finally decided the best place to add the grass cloth would be in the office.

This office...

I am thinking this color will be perfect.

Now, I just need to find someone to hang it.
Perhaps I could sweet talk my mother into coming up for a few days to help me tackle this project.
I could repay her with a trip to the spa.  Uhmmm, wonder if she's reading this?

Now, onto the important stuff.
Using www.random.org to choose the winning comment, the winner of the Cutting Edge Stencil is.....

Lisa @ Shine Your Light said...
I like the Harlequin, but the Trellis one is gorgeous too...oh it would be hard to choose! What a great giveaway -thanks for the chance Andrea! The wall you did looks great and I LOVE that blue grasscloth. So pretty.

Congratulations Lisa!  Send me an email so I can get you set up with the credit.

MORE PROGRESS AND A GIVEAWAY

As promised, here are some pictures of more progress that has been made on this project

This is a mid-progress picture. The walls were originally a sunny yellow.
They were painted with Benjamin Moore Wedgewood Gray.

I promise this is the same wall.  The paint looks much more blue in this picture.
I used the Moroccan All Over stencil from Cutting Edge Stencils.

It was very easy to work with and they even included a level
that attaches to the bottom of the stencil and a foam roller with the kit.

The stencil design is done in Benjamin Moore Putnam Ivory.

Sorry for the poor quality of the pictures.
The lighting was bad when I finished, but I wanted to be sure to get the after pictures.

It took me approximately 3 hours to stencil this wall.  The wall continues around the corner as well.

Adding the stencil dramatically changed the look of my client's foyer.
The Wedgewood Gray flows nicely with the blue grass cloth like fabric
that lines the bookcases in the adjoining family room.

Now, onto the giveaway.  Cutting Edge Stencils supplied the stencil for this project and they have graciously offered a free stencil (up to a $50 value) to one of my readers.

Here are a few of my favorite stencils from Cutting Edge Stencils.

1/2/3/4

I have done a couple of stenciling projects before, but never with a Cutting Edge Stencil.
Just to make sure I knew what I was doing, I first watched this instructional video.

To enter the giveaway, simply visit Cutting Edge Stencils and let me know
which stencil you would love to have.

For a second chance, blog, tweet or Facebook about this giveaway
and leave me comment letting me know you did so.

The giveaway is open until 12:00 a.m. EST on Tuesday, January 10, 2012.
I will announce the winner on Wednesday, January 11, 2012.

Good Luck and I hope you all have a great weekend.
I've been on a bit of an organizing mission this week.  I'll fill you in on my projects next week.
