From Bedroom to Bathroom

The master bathroom used to be a small fourth bedroom.  Since this house had extra bedrooms on the  third floor, we decided the small bedroom (next to the master bedroom) would be better used as a bathroom/laundry room.  Since all the walls on the first floor were removed during demolition, getting plumbing to this space wasn't a huge issue.  Here are a few things on our wish list:

1.  double sinks
2.  large shower
3.  bathtub
4.  separate room for the toilet

This is what the bedroom looked like before becoming a bathroom.

Here's a during remodel photo.  What a mess!

And finally!!

The space was large enough to be able to accommodate everything.  We didn't want to change the look of the outside of the house, so we kept a window in the shower and just updated it with a new frosted glass window.  Fortunately, there is a large tree right outside the bathroom window, so don't worry, nothing to see.  We also wanted the bathroom to have characteristics of an old house.  We used octagon marble tiles on the floor, marble subway tiles in the shower and carrera marble on the vanity.

The big mistake we made, was to make this shower a little to inviting to the children.  They all want to take showers in here rather than their own bathroom.

The laundry room is right off the master bathroom and there is another door to the laundry room that leads to the 2nd floor landing.  It makes it easy for everyone to throw their own dirty clothes in the hampers (hey, a girl can dream, right?).

That's all for today.  Hope you enjoyed the tour.

  1. Beautiful! I've enjoyed reading your blog Andrea! You've done a spectacular job and scored some awesome finds! The commercial shoot looked like so much fun. I'm laughing about Mom & Dad's shower .... because we have a large walk-in too with a double shower heads. And even though Aidan has his own bathroom, guess where he chooses to be?!?!

  5. Where did you get your tub? We are building and I want a stand alone tub for my master but am debating between acrylic/porcelyn. Also how is the side mounted shower tub faucet? Is it difficult to have this kind of a tub because there is nowhere to sit shampoo soap etc?

Sorry for the bombardment of question......:)
