If Walls Could Talk

Then our house would have some stories to tell. Let me preface this post, by admitting that my husband is very easy going and usually doesn't have much of an opinion on decorating.  If I need his input, I ask, and he gives it.  However, when it comes to hanging things on the walls in our home, he usually has an opinion, even if I don't ask.  He doesn't have anything against mass produced art, and we do have some of that hanging too, but he has made it pretty clear that he prefers to be surrounded by things that have some kind of meaning to us.  I can hardly argue with that.  Here are a few examples of meaningful items we have hanging on our walls.

This gallery wall is in our family room.  Most of these were created by my kids when they were in pre-school.  Every time I look at the art, I think back to when they were that age. It  always makes me smile!

My awesome friend, Megan Krieg, can draw just about anything.  She did the drawing below of our current home. This print was a gift from my brother and sister-in-law for Christmas.  I will always cherish it.

Before we moved into our current home, I had Megan do a drawing of our first home.  We lived in this house for 10 years and there were so many wonderful memories made in that house.  You can contact Megan at megankrieg@fuse.net if you are interested in having her do a drawing for you.  Like I said, she is very talented.

I wanted to get my husband something sweet and sentimental for our 10 year wedding anniversary a few years ago.  I downloaded the sheet music for the song we danced to at our wedding, "Crazy Love" by Van Morrison, printed it on cardstock and had it framed.  He loved it!

Several years ago, my mom gave me this collage.  It includes pictures of my great-grandparents, my grandparents, my parents and our wedding picture.  In the middle of the collage is our wedding invitation. I cannot even express how much this means to me.

As you go up the stairs in our house, the wall is lined with some of the prints we have collected over the years from our travels.  I have several more that need to be framed.  It's always fun to pick out the perfect print and when we pass by them each and everyday, we remember the great times we had on those trips.

What about you?  What story would your walls tell if they could talk?
