April Showers Bring May Flowers

Actually, April showers just bring more May showers, so I'm making my own flowers.  Emily at Jones Design Company is having a week of flower making tutorials.  If you haven't already checked out her posts from Flower Week you will definitely want to.  I adore everything Emily makes.

Our front door needed a new spring wreath and I've been looking around for inspiration.  As soon as I saw Emily's post yesterday, I was inspired.  While I was running errands today, I stopped in Michael's and picked up some scrapbook paper.  I came straight home and got to work on my wreath.

This is how it turned out.

I already had the wreath and I simply wrapped it in strips of some canvas fabric I had on hand.

Rather than gluing the flowers on the wreath, I stuck a straight pin in the middle of each one to attach them to the wreath.

The new spring wreath is replacing this fall wreath, which was also inspired by one of Emily's creations.

Does the fabric look familiar? It was leftover from when I had these wingback chairs covered.

I think it would look great all filled in, but honestly, I was getting pretty tired of rolling flowers.  I'm sure I'll be back at it tomorrow. I would love to make a few more.  If you want to give this project a try, check out Emily's tutorial here.

  13. So pretty! I love how crisp the paper flowers look, and how much easier they are than the fabric versions! The wreath is perfect!
