MY NEXT VICTIM

As promised, I would like to introduce you to my next victim, uh, I mean project.

Meet the $45 thrift store dresser.....
Let's just call her "Boring" for now.

When we were working on the floor plans for our renovation, we knew we wanted a master suite and we knew we wanted the laundry room on the second floor. In order to get all of this accomplished, we had to sacrifice on the size of our master closet.  It is a decent size walk-in closet, but nothing spectacular and we definitely are in need of more storage for our clothes.  I have been on the hunt for a certain size dresser.  I see a lot of antique dressers that I love, but I needed a dresser that is sturdy and functional, not just pretty.

"Boring" had me at $45!  I took her home and immediately gave her a good sanding.

I'm still working on her, but here is my inspiration.

I know, I know, "Boring" is not nearly this beautiful, but with some paint and elbow grease, I think "Boring" can be beautiful (in her own way).

Okay, I'm naming my furniture, perhaps I've been reading too many Young House Love posts.

So what do you think?  Can you see the potential with "Boring"?  She'll be ready to reveal next week.
Hope you all have a great weekend!

  2. You totally put me to shame! I have a large oak desk (naturally distressed) in my foyer that is in dire need of a facelift and an antique buffet in my dining room that I've been thinking about tackling for a couple of years. Maybe one day I'll decide what to do with both & make a move! :)
