Is going to be scouring the country tri-state area in search of one of these....
for this big blank wall....
You may recall from this post, way back when,
my desire to add a sliding barn door to separate our kitchen/dining room from our family room.
Turns out the older kids get, the louder they get.
I thought crying babies were loud, but that's nothing
compared to a five year old and and seven year old playing rumble fumble.
The barn door shown above is just a minor detail in this amazing renovation project.
You can check out the fabulous Maple Leaves and Sycamore Trees blog here to see more.
The door was originally a pocket door in a 100+ year old house. What a find!
I saw it on Pinterest today and now I'm back on the barn door bandwagon.
I fell off the wagon briefly when I thought about adding a built in banquette here instead.
After doing some more measuring and number crunching, we decided to let go of that idea.
So if you are out and about and happen to come across a giant old pocket door, please let me know.
In the meantime, have yourself a great weekend. I definitely plan to.
I love that idea! I'll keep my eyes open and if I find one I'll spit on it for you so no one else will want it. ;) That's what friends are for! Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeletegood luck in your search, friend! i have no doubts you will find it! :)

Yes, yes, yes!!! That is going to be gorgeous! I want one too! Can't wait to see what you find :)
ReplyDeleteThat grey door is gorgeous!! I tried to talk my husband into putting a barn door in our newly finished basement, but he feared the kids messing with it when we're upstairs (and I have to say, fine, he's probably right!) But I LOVE it for your kitchen/dining space, it would be so perfect there and I want to live vicariously through you! I'm looking on the Boston Craigslist for you right now! :)
ReplyDeleteWe just installed a barn door and my post will come up on Monday morning. I have a huge extra one...but it's in MN. Stop over and check out my door.
ReplyDeleteThat door is AMAZING!! I don't think I've seen anything like it. Wow. Would be perfect in your home too - I can totally see it.
ReplyDeleteI have so wanted to do something like that for our office area....what a beautiful door...
