HAVEN HAPPENINGS

Yes, Haven was well over a week and a half ago, and I am just now getting around to posting about it. Better late than never, right?  I kind of live by that philosophy.
Sometimes it's a good thing, sometimes, not so much!

Anyhow, here's a picture of me with my awesome roomies,
Sarah from The Thriftness and Carmel of Our Fifth House.
Carmel and I drove down together.
I met her at her house and as soon as she opened the door, I was a little taken back by how pretty she is.  I've seen pictures of her on her blog before, but in person, she is stunning.
Karianne, from Thistlewood Farms, unofficially named Carmel the most beautiful blogger at Haven and  I second that.  BTW, I unofficially name Karianne the most entertaining blogger at Haven.
I'm sure just about everyone there can second that!
Carmel and I had a great time getting to know each other
and we were able to do quite a bit of blog talk during the 12 hours we were in the car together.

We're missing the clever and adorable, Angie from In The Thick of It
She roomed with us the first night.
That girl cracks me up.  You have to read this post!
I'm guilty of being one of the colored cropped pants girl.
You can't see them in any of these pictures, but my pants were the hottest pink you've even seen!
I have previously confessed to my lack of fashion sense and when I bought these pants,
I thought I was going to be so cool.
Little did I know, the conference would be swimming with colored cropped pants wearing women.
Oh well, I tried. To be honest, I'm more of a blend in kind of girl anyway.

There have already been some great Haven re-cap posts written,
so I won't try to one-up these lovely ladies.
Bottom line is, I had a fabulous time and I can't wait to go back next year.
The highlight of the conference, for me, was meeting Sherry Hart of Design Indulgence.
This chick is the real deal.  She is an amazing designer and has quite the personality.
I could listen to her talk for hours.
That's me, Sherry, Carmel and the fun-loving Cassie from Primitive and Proper.
Cassie was another blogger I was excited to meet.  That girl has more energy that my five year old.
She could not have been sweeter.

Sherry tag teamed with the beautiful and talented Darlene from Fieldstone Hill.
See how pretty she is, oh and wait, what's that, a small glimpse of my hot pink cropped pants.

The other highlight of the trip involved making new new friends and enjoying good food.
At dinner one night, I got to spend some time chatting with Anna from Directions Not Included,  Becky from Organizing Made Fun and of course, Ange from The Blooming Hydrangea.
I was dying to meet her, as she's the one who talked me into going to Haven.
She is sweet, out-going and hilarious, just as I suspected.

I skipped the popular sessions about Advertising and PR.
I did attend the "I Like Big Blogs" session and the Photography and Photo Styling session.
I learned a ton from both of those sessions.  Once I was home and had a chance to digest all the information, I came to the conclusion that I while I still have a lot to learn, I kind of like my little ole' blog just the way it is.  It gives me an outlet to express some creativity and a means for me to interact with other amazing bloggers and of course, my fabulous readers.

So there you have it, my two cents about the first Haven Conference.
Now that I can finally check "Haven Re-cap" off my list,
I'll be moving on to design related posts for the rest of the week.

Now, who's looking forward to a holiday right smack dab in the middle of the week?
Yep, me too!

  2. Yay - so glad you got your summary written and it's a great one - it's yours. I'd love to try to make it next year. I'm with you - I'm happy with my blog just the way it is. I know I need to do some updates here and there, but I just like having my outlet to do what we do. I would love to meet Sherry in person. I enjoy her posts so much and she's so knowledgeable while at the same time injecting her sense of humor and wit into her writing. I'm so glad you had a great time Andrea.

I wish my husband had not been out of town...as I had to scoot home and do the "dog thing" both nights. Definitely next year we will have to plan for more social time....I am up for that!
