A CLEVER FIX (REPAIRING A SUNBURST MIRROR)

Okay, first of all, thanks for the words of encouragement
from all you awesome people about THE BIG DAY!!!
I'm happy to report that it went quite well for everyone, especially me.

We walked the kids to school, there were no visible tears from anyone and all was well.
Next I stopped at dear friend's house for a "moms only" back to school breakfast.
I may or may not have consumed a mimosa or two.
I kept having this nagging feeling that I needed to hurry up so I could
pick someone up somewhere, but nope, not today.
I spent the day doing a bunch of nothing and it was fabulous!!

Now, on to the clever fix. I mentioned the brilliant solution in this post earlier in the week.
My client scored this bone starburst mirror from the Ballard Outlet for a mere $50.
It can be found here for $269.

There was one little problem.  It was missing a section of "bone".
This certainly wouldn't have stopped me from buying it, and
I'm so glad my client saw past this tiny flaw and snatched it up.

However, I'm not sure I would have been clever enough to make this simple repair, like she did.
I probably would have bought it and let it sit in my garage for two years
while I pondered what in the heck to do about it.

She, on the other hand, swiftly removed another small section of "bone",
took it to Kinko's and had a color copy made of it.

She then went home, cut out the color copied section of "bone"
and mod podged it onto a piece of cardboard.
Next she placed both sections of "bone" back in place.

Wah Lah!!  I dare you to try to find the faux "bone".

Couldn't do it, could you.
Pretty clever, right?

Why can't I ever come up with brilliant ideas like that.
Anyone else have a simple clever solution they care to share.
Oh come on, I dare you.....

  6. Oh that is clever. I did a similar thing with a missing game piece - it only saved me about $12 though so your friend wins in the clever department.
