NEW DINING ROOM DESIGN

Wow,  it's already Wednesday.  How did that happen?
I'm excited to show you a new design plan I've been working on.
I worked on this client's family room/kitchen last year and it turned out lovely.
This time, they were ready to tackle the dining room and office.

The dining room is getting most of the attention,
but the office got a new paint color and will get a new window treatment as well.

This is how the room started out....

This is where we are headed.....

My clients wanted a less formal look to their dining room.
The table, rug and buffet stay.
The hutch on top of the buffet went away, as did the chandelier, the drapes and the yellow walls.

I found six amazing Ficks Reed chairs on Craigslist and my client quickly pounced on them.
The seats will be recovered with the Sunbrella fabric.
She picked up two of the wicker dining chairs at the Ballard Design outlet to use as captains chairs.

The walls were painted Benjamin Moore Revere Pewter.
A new lantern will be added and I gave up my green thrift store lamps for this design.
The sunburst mirror will hang over the buffet flanked by the lamps
and new casual drapes will be added.

Here's a little peek at some progress.

The client's son graduates High School at the end of May
so this makeover will be wrapped up soon.
Having a deadline always helps speed things along, doesn't it?

I'm looking forward to sharing the "after" pictures with you soon,
and hopefully a few more of the design plans I've been working on.

Happy Hump Day to you!

  2. It's already a really nice improvement - the change in seating really gives a more casual feel but still looks pulled together and lighter. And love the mirror over the buffet. Nice work!!

  4. Awesome updates, Andrea ~ I love how the room opens up without the top of the hutch, and agreed those chairs are killer! I'm working on a living room with a May 25th deadline for graduation! :)

  5. I love those chairs! I completely agree, having a deadline is the BEST way to get things done. Can't wait to see it all done.

  6. Oh my GOSH I love the changes you've made. Those chairs off of CL are gorgeous, and the host chairs!! Gah. Isn't it amazing how taking the hutch off a china cabinet totally changes up a room? It looks so fabulous Andrea.
