PURCHASING PAIRS

I have a little bit of a weakness for things in pairs.  Strangely enough, I have three children.
Anyway, back to my weakness.
Lately, I have acquired a few new pairs.

For starters, I basically stole these lamps from a thrift store.
Let me clarify, I did pay for the lamps, a whopping $12 total.
However, there were some cute, trendy ladies in there scoping out the place.
I overhead them commenting on how awesome the lamps were.
Thrifting lesson #1, if you want it, pick it up, immediately!
These ladies didn't follow the rule.
So as soon as they moved on down the aisle, the lamps were all MINE! (insert evil laugh)
Not quite sure where they will go.  They may be spray painted and used for a client project.

I also picked up these brass pineapple bookends for $10 recently.
I knew as soon as I saw them, I wanted them.
So what did I do, I picked them up immediately.
I'm a rule follower.

These brass trivets were found at a local consignment shop.
Believe it or not, I was looking for two somethings, round and brass, for a little project.
It was meant to be.  Scored them for $7 each.

As a matter of fact, I stumbled upon them while spending a beautiful Saturday afternoon
with my good friend, Carmel
We had a fabulous lunch and then shopped around town.
She even came back to my house and spent some time
showing me how to operate my camera in manual mode.
Love that girl!

I also like to buy chairs in pairs.
As evidenced here, here and here.

Do you like to buy in pairs, or is just one enough for you?

  3. You two are so cute - it warms my heart to see bloggers/friends meet up in person like this. And you can't pass up a good deal at the consignment store. Speaking of - I'm off to my favorite place.

  4. Darn! I wish you were closer to So. CA, one of these yellow lamps is just what I need for my room update. No spray painting needed! - yes, I am working on the room plan you made for me last month (love it). Although that activity will have to go on hold with all the Christmas decor, pillows and quilts coming out..... Thanks again for the awesome room plan!

  5. I have the same exact lamps! Got them off Craigslist. My recommendation--don't paint them!! I get so many compliments on them. They add such a nice pop of color to a room. Here's a pic of them on a table I made over. http://www.mapleleavessycamoretrees.com/2012/02/side-table-makeover.html

  6. i always think if there is two of something and it is vintage, you should buy both, because you never know when you might need or want the other one! :)

  7. I have those lamps. Mine are chocolate brown from a garage sale. They are sporting some naked metal shades that the vote was to leave that look. Now I'm thinking maybe I want to spray paint mine white?

  11. I'm the same way! I have so many pairs of lamps! Who buys just one lamp?! And I'm so jealous of having lunch with Carmel. I love her blog!

  12. I love pairs too! Especially in lamps, I feel like it just adds the right amount of symmetry to a room. Especially one where the kids take the pillows off the couch to build forts, so any semblance of order is better than none!

  13. I have the perfect pair - my twin girls!

I do love symmetry - it's so hard to find vintage lamp pairs so when I do, I scoop them up!

Glad you had fun with Carmel!
